National Alliance on Mental Illness, Boulder County

VOLUNTEERS MAKE THE DIFFERENCE!

NAMI is families helping families. In NAMI, family means everyone, including the person who has the illness. Volunteerism is at the heart of the NAMI rganization. While the national and state organizations have paid staff, our local NAMI does not. Even with paid staff, there would be no way to make real progress without the large number of passionate and persistent individuals who have given mental illness causes their primary attention.

Sometimes there are projects just waiting to be adopted by the right volunteer. Perhaps you have a creative idea to further a NAMI Boulder County goal. The wish list for what we could accomplish is always far longer than the line of volunteers waiting to sign up.
Here are just a few of the ways you can help:

  • Train to teach a Family to Family class.
  • Train to teach a Visions for Tomorrow class.
  • Serve on the NAMI Boulder County Board of Directors.
  • Sign up to hand out information at Channel 9 Health Fair sites and other public gatherings.
  • Attend Mental Health Center of Boulder County Board of Directors and committee meetings.
  • Get to know your state legislators personally and serve as a resource on mental illness issues.
  • Be available for public speaking to church and business groups.
